Just a phrase can make the day....

As many of you know I was out of town this weekend on holiday. My best friend and music writer, Craig, invited me along one of his concert ‘tours.’ I jumped at the chance to tag along, enjoy a road trip and visit some of my favorite southern cities. Savannah was our first stop- weee!!

Unfortunately minutes after our arrival there was an unexplainable electrical fire underground right in the heart of the historic district. It appears no one was injured, however a large portion of the downtown area was shrouded in a black-out that lasted the entire night and well into the next morning. Although our hotel block had electricity, needless to say our dining and entertainment plans were scrapped.

Yet we were able to make the best of it, well maybe not the best, but we had a few good laughs during our misadventures. Read more about it on Craig’s blog entry on CMT.

The next day after the power came back on we scrambled around to see if some of our wish list stops were open. Much to our relief the gelateria in the City Market, Cafe Gelatohhh!!! had been spared and was now open for business. In fact, as an act of gratitude for their salvaged inventory the scoop shop was offering an additional 10% off everything in the store! So in addition to my super delicious strawberry basil scoop I couldn’t help but throw in one of the company bumper stickers that sat on the counter. The motto was an uplifting breath of fresh air to the recent disheartening course of events and a new mantra I have added to my repertoire.
