This week, and last week too Jimmy Barkan, esteemed international hot yoga teacher, is here in Nashville. I heard a bit late in the game, but wanted to pass along the news!!! Jimmy is here in Nashville training students at Hot Yoga Hendersonville for two weeks only!! Its a rare opportunity for him to be in Tennessee, so if you have the time I strongly recommend heading north and checking out one of his classes. He's leading practice every morning this week at 9:30AM at Hot Yoga Hendersonville.   I went up there last Wednesday to meet Jimmy for lunch. Of course I brought him down here to the East Side to show him around the ‘hood- the highlight being our studio. And I must say I believe he liked it very much- his first comment being the lovely scent that is so mysteriously yummy and familiar to so many of us. I was able to make class Fri, Mon and today. And boy, it is so delicious to be a student again... My muscles have never been so tired nor so alive at the same time!! Plus, to get some new pointers on some of my stale poses was remarkable. It’s been a wonderful homecoming feeling..... I’ll be heading up there again THIS Friday- 9/26, with fellow KYY instructor Brett, so if you'd like to carpool just let me know. James Barkan has been teaching hot yoga since 1981. A long standing hot yoga student prior and senior teacher of Bikram Chodhury in California, Jimmy opened his South Florida school in 1983. His unique style of teaching encourages students of all levels to reach their full potential. His core teaching stems from his lineage in Calcutta, however James incorporates various postures from different styles of Hatha Yoga.
